Dennett Valley Men’s Shed

5 Brook Road, Dunamanagh, Strabane

Established in 2019, the Men’s Shed is a vital community initiative aimed at promoting healthier physical and mental lifestyles while addressing the challenges of social and rural isolation in the Dennett Valley. The project began after years of deliberation and negotiation to repurpose the Parochial Hall, a building that had fallen into disrepair. Under the guidance of the Dennett Valley Health Network, the hall was transformed into a thriving hub for connection and activity.

With a current membership of 33 and growing, the Men’s Shed is a testament to the power of community collaboration. The voluntary effort to reclaim and refurbish the hall not only revitalized the space but also strengthened community cohesion. Along the way, new friendships were forged, and old ones rekindled, creating a supportive and welcoming environment for all involved.

Today, the Men’s Shed continues to provide a space where individuals can come together, share skills, and enjoy meaningful social interaction, ensuring the well-being of residents across the village and the wider Dennett Valley community.

Dennett Danders

5 Brook Road, Dunamanagh, Strabane

Dennett Danders is a vibrant walking group that brings together members of both the Men’s Shed and She Shed, fostering connection and camaraderie through shared exploration of the beautiful Dennett Valley and its surroundings. The group meets regularly to enjoy leisurely walks that not only promote physical health but also create opportunities for social interaction and the appreciation of the local natural and cultural heritage.

By combining the strengths and interests of the two groups, Dennett Danders offers a welcoming space for everyone to stay active, build friendships, and strengthen community ties, all while enjoying the scenic landscapes of the area.

Dennett Valley She Shed

5 Brook Road, Dunamanagh, Strabane

Based in Dunamanagh/Donemana, the Dennett Valley She Shed is a unique initiative designed to combat the effects of rural isolation through creative and engaging activities. The She Shed provides a welcoming space for women to connect, learn, and grow together by exploring horticulture, fostering an appreciation for the natural environment, and building digital literacy skills.

This supportive environment not only encourages personal development but also strengthens community bonds, offering participants a chance to engage in meaningful projects that enhance their well-being and enrich the wider Dennett Valley community.
